How to make letterpress business cards?

Letterpress Business Cards are prepared on thick 600gsm cotton stock which is believed to be ideal for debossing because of it's thickness and texture. Inks used on business cards are mixed to match supplied swatches or pantone colours as closely as possible. Then they gently embed the ink into the card stock using a vintage letterpress. These cotton cards can also be foil stamped with metallic gold, metallic silver and holographic silver foils, or can blind deboss the card stock, which involves pressing the design into the card without foil or ink. Inks, foils and blind debossing can all be combined within the same card to create a truly unique business card.

Due to the nature of letterpress there will be a slight difference in the intensity of ink used during printing. Solid areas of colour make it difficult to ensure consistency of colour and in most cases do not provide the desired letterpress impression. The letterpress process is best suited to simple/minimalist design/artwork. The other advantage of simple/minimalist design/artwork is that we can achieve a good debossed effect. Each letterpress business card is printed by hand using traditional artisanal techniques, this means no two letterpress business cards will ever be identical.
