How Hot Foil Stamping works in Wild Letterpress Business Cards?

Hot foil stamping used in Wild Letterpress Business Cards is a technique in which we apply metallic and special effect foils in order to print literature, using a combination of heat, pressure and a metal die. This metal die is also called a stamp or plate. This procedure of Foiling produces effects which are impossible to achieve using traditional ink printing. Because of this only, adding a foil to marketing literature not only gives the finished piece an edge, but also ensures a luxury, high-end impression. We stock a wide range of metallic foils in a variety of different finishes and colours, among those include the popular gold, silver and copper, along with many other colours. It also include special effect foils such as holographic silver, also called rainbow silver, which changes colour as it diffracts light across the colour spectrum. Sometimes they also include Patterned, brushed, satin and custom foils. Some also provide Foil swatches on request to enable you to choose a foil colour and finish prior to placing an order.

Due to the rare nature of letterpress there will always be a slight difference in the intensity of ink used during printing. Solid areas of colour make it difficult to ensure consistency of colour and in most cases do not provide the desired letterpress impression as we required. This letterpress process is best suited to simple design. The other advantage of simple design is that we can have a good debossed effect. Each letterpress business card is printed by hand using traditional artisanal techniques, this means no two letterpress business cards will ever be identical.

Foil Letterpress Business Cards

 These wild letterpress business cards are produced on a 450gsm 35% cotton stock called Wild. Based on cost, this stock is more effective than our 100% cotton range and is still ideal for letterpress printing, foil stamping and debossing. Wild has greater textured or 'hammered' surface than 100% cotton card, other than that everything else is same. Letterpress inks are mixed to match print swatches and pantone colours as closely as possible. Then these inks are embedded into the Wild card stock using a vintage 1950's letterpress. Hot foil stamping allow us to combine letterpress inks and metallic foils to create truly memorable business cards.
